Publishing Giant Robert Giroux dead at 94

Famed literary editor Robert Giroux, who worked with writers including Robert Lowell, Flannery O’Connor, Jack Kerouac and Bernard Malamud, died on Friday at the age of 94. The New York Times features his obituary and this story about "the one that got away," Giroux's encounter with an unknown author named J.D. Salinger. The anecdote will appear in the upcoming book The Time of Their Lives: The Golden Age of Great American Book Publishers, Their Editors and Authors by Al Silverman.
