We're super-thrilled for Anne Valente, whose collection By Light We Knew Our Names has just been selected as the winner for the Dzanc Books Short Story Collection Contest. We're still not exactly sure how to say "Dzanc" but we're singing their praises for this fabulous choice.
Anne's collection was selected from over 250 entries. A short list of finalists included Stephen Tuttle, Jessica Hollander, and Anthony Varallo--who have also all appeared in the pages of HFR.
Anne's collection will appear in October 2014. If you want to get a jump start on the title story, you can find it on our website here. It's one of our favorites ever.
